Sister Yeshe Talk and Book Signing
Indian Buddhists and Western Monastics
A Tour by Respected Australian Buddhist Nun,
Venerable Sister Yeshe.

Sister Yeshe was just an ordinary Australian girl, until she began to question her life. This questioning led her to India (as it had many before her) where at the age of 17 she encountered the rich world of Tibetan Buddhism owing to the presence of the Tibetan refugees stationed in India’s mountain region. She has studied with many of the high masters in the Sakya tradition and uses this ancient knowledge of our inner world to enthuse the minds of westerners into feeling they can use this knowledge in their contemporary lives.

Her book ‘Everyday Enlightenment: How to be a Spiritual Warrior at the Kitchen Sink’ presents us with options on how to deal with ordinary everyday problems. She melds her understanding of Buddhism with her cultural background and while being a fully ordained monastic (Bhikshuni), she can make even the most intricate details of Buddhist psychology easy to approach.

Venerable Sister Yeshe will be touring through-out NSW in July and August, talking on her projects in India with the Kalayanamitra fund, working with impoverished women, men and children in India, ranging from prisoners and victims of domestic violence to those within the “untouchable” caste.

“We do social work with Indians who previously belonged to the 'untouchable' caste within the Indian Caste system. These people were oppressed for thousands of years, denied education and basic human rights and made to do the most degrading jobs or work for little pay or meagre food for people from the higher castes.” Ven. Sister Yeshe.

There will be screenings of the documentary “Through the Eastern Gate” which features Sister Yeshe and copies of ‘Everyday Enlightenment’ will be available for purchase and signing. All money raised will go to the Kalayanamitra fund.
We hope you can join us for this unique opportunity to gain insight into the work of a modern Australian Buddhist nun.

Entry is free. We cannot take bookings. Please arrive on time to make sure you don’t miss out!
