The Central Coast Potters Society Inc (CCPSI) is a non- profit community organisation dedicated to the pursuit and enjoyment of working with clay. Our Society is 39 years old, has been in it's present location for 30 years. Membership is annual, and is regarded as a "family" membership. This membership can also become a Workshop Membership for a small anual fee, allowing use of the workshop at any time the wokshop is not being used for classes, meetings etc. There are potters wheels and kilns for use of members, instruction available. Classes are held for adults and children, generally following the school terms. Information regarding these classes can be found at our Potters Gallery (within the workshop) which is open each weekend, 10am -4pm. The Gallery is an exhibition space for CCPSI members who wish to sell their work, with each exhibiting member taking turns on a roster. New exhibiting potters are always welcome, but must be members of CCPSI. Social meetings are held monthly, generally but not always, on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. A phonecall to the contact phone number will provide you with information re current events. The Society is run by an Executive Committee of elected members who meet monthly to plan activities and oversee the CCPSInc. During the year (Mothers Day and Christmas) we have exhibitions / sales at the Studio Gallery at the Arts Centre at Caroline Bay, members participating. Schools and Master Classes and trips away and inter-club visits are part of our schedule. During the winter we plan 2 Raku firing days and pit firings for members, the second event being open to the public. This year we plan to invite public participation at our Open Day in August, to buy a pot and become involved with the Raku firing. A monthly newsletter informs our membership of coming events, general information and updates our membership, also has advertising space for sale for a small fee. We are an active, interesting, interested group of potters, enjoying our work with clay. |
